Local Economy
Lodgepole is an agricultural community nestled in the panhandle of western Nebraska. The community has strong ties to the Union Pacific Railroad dating back to 1867. Lodgepole is located on the historic Lincoln Highway, which attracts many history buffs to the area. Lodgepole’s rustic history is embraced by the local community.
The economy in Lodgepole has been enhanced with an update of the sewer system. The project consisted of the addition of a new lagoon, new sewer lines within Lodgepole and the addition of the sewer system to a new addition on the east side of Lodgepole. The project was possible by funds received from the USDA and CDBG grants and loans. The upgrades allow additional housing and business opportunities in Lodgepole. The construction was completed in June of 2012.
